Sample No.: TIL82412 & TIL82413 Location: Thiel Mountains Field No.: 2772 & 2728 Weight (gms): 35.1 & 18.3 Meteorite Type: H5 Chondrite
Physical Description: Roberta Score Both of these specimens are extensively weathered. Dimensions: 3.5 x 3 x 2 cm & 3 x 2 x 1.5 cm
Petrographic Description: Brian Mason Chondrules are fairly abundant, but their margins are poorly defined, tending to merge with the granular groundmass, which consists largely of olivine and pyroxene, with minor amounts of nickel-iron and troilite. Brown limonitic staining pervades the section, and veinlets of red-brown limonite are present. Microprobe analyses give the following compositions: olivine, Fa17; pyroxene, Fs16. The meteorite is an H5 chondrite. The sections of these meteorites are similar in all respects and the mineral compositions are the same. The possibility of pairing should be considered. | ||||||||||||||||||||
