Northwest Africa 2356 Northwest Africa Found 2004 Achondrite (eucrite) A 56 g complete stone was purchased in Erfoud, Morocco in 2004 March. Description and classification (J. Wittke and T. Bunch, NAU): polymict eucrite of mostly coarse-grained basaltic clasts (1 – 2.5 mm grain diameter). Most components are lightly to moderately shocked with a few highly shocked. Low–Ca pyroxene, Fs37.1–43.1Wo2.8–3.7; pigeonite, Fs30.7–33.7Wo7.8–12.0; plagioclase, An88.9–92.1; chromite cr# = 77-85. Lightly weathered. Specimens: type specimen 22 g, NAU; main mass, Burkard. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
