Achondrite (monomict eucrite)

Two fragments totaling 37.8 g partially covered with fusion crust were found spring 2004 in the North African Sahara and purchased 2004 March in Rissani. Classification and mineralogy (A. Greshake, MNB): a monomict breccia composed of pyroxene and plagioclase fragments, Ca-pyroxene is dominantly pigeonite with augite exsolution lamellae; plagioclase, An91.8 (range An91.3-92.4); pigeonite, Fs39.9.-40.3Wo5.9-7.1; augite, Fs17.4-19.7Wo39.9-44.7; minor phases include orthopyroxene, Fs41.9-43.9Wo2.2-5, silica, troilite, and Al-Ti-chromite; moderate degree of shock; low degree of weathering. Specimens: type specimen 8.1 g plus one polished thin section MNB.
