Northwest Africa 657 (NWA 657) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2000 Nov Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L5) History: Purchased by Michael Cottingham in November 2000 from a dealer in Erfoud, Morocco. Petrography: (A. Irving and S. Kuehner, UWS) Sparse chondrules occur in a recrystallized matrix containing stained metal. Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa25.0-25.9, N = 3), orthopyroxene (Fs21.1-21.4Wo1.8-1.6, N = 3), clinopyroxene (Fs7.2-8.1Wo45.7-43.9, N = 2). Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L6). Specimens: 21.7 g including one polished thin section at PSF; remainder is held by Cott. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
