Northwest Africa 2638 (NWA 2638)

Purchased: 2004

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H4)

History: Purchased by Adam Hupe in 2004 from a dealer in Erfoud, Morocco.

Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and J. Boesenberg, BrownU; T. Bunch and J. Wittke, NAU) Well-formed, relatively small chondrules are set in a relatively coarse grained matrix containing abundant altered metal.

Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa17.9±0.2 (range Fa17.7-18.3, N = 5), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs15.5±1.5Wo0.4±0.1 (range Fs13.8-16.6Wo0.5-0.3, N = 3).

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H4).

Specimens: 11.5 g including one polished thin section at PSF; remainder with AHupé.
