Northwest Africa 4685 (NWA 4685) (Northwest Africa) Find: 2007 Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CVox3) Physical characteristics: One piece of 660 g + 1 piece of 155.2 g + 48 smaller individuals and fragments. Cut face reveals large chondrules and CAIs. Petrography: (J. Gattacceca, CEREGE) Millimeter-sized chondrules and CAIs (to 5 mm) set in an abundant (~30 vol%) fine-grained, iron-rich matrix. Abudant magnetite and sulfides, rare metal. Geochemistry: Average Ni in sulfides 15.7 wt% Classification: Carbonaceous chondrites (CVox3). CVox group based on the Ni content of sulfides Gattacceca et al., 2020. Specimens: Type specimen at CEREGE. Main mass with Norbert Kammel | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
