Northwest Africa 4705 (NWA 4705) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2006 Classification: Iron meteorite (ungrouped) Petrography: A small, plessitic octahedrite. Kamacite sparks and spindles have schreibersite in centers and thin taenite borders. Some spindles are very reflective, mirror like, similar to carbides. No FeS was observed. No heat-altered zone is preserved. Kamacite bandwidth 0.010±0.004 mm. Geochemistry: Composition is exceptional, with high concentrations of almost all elements. Co (mg/g) 13.19, Ni (mg/g) 200.1, Ga (µg/g) 15.0, Ge (µg/g) 1300, As (µg/g) 32.8, Ir (µg/g) 58.9, Au (µg/g) 3.25. Submitter: J. T. Wasson, UCLA. | ||||||||||||||||||||
