Classification: Primitive achondrite (Acapulcoite)

History: The meteorite was found in No. 4 moraine in Grove Mountains by X. Xu. It is 14×14×18 mm in size and completely covered by black fusion crust. The meteorite weighs 2.19 g.

Petrography: (S. Li, S. Wang, S. Liu and T. Hong, IGCAS). The meteorite consists dominantly of olivine, low-Ca pyroxene, chromian diopside, troilite, metallic Fe-Ni; minor phases include schreibersite, plagioclase and alkali feldspar. It displays a completely recrystallized texture with abundant 120° triple junctions. The grain size of the silicates ranges from 100-250 μm.

Geochemistry: (S. Li, S. Wang, S. Liu and T.Hong, IGCAS). Olivine (Fa5.4; range Fa5.3–5.6),low-Ca pyroxene (Fs4.4–5.3Wo2.9–3.2), chromian diopside (Fs2.1-2.8Wo43.5–44.5; with Cr2O3 of up to 1.5 wt%).

Classification: Achondrite (acapulcoite); minimal shock, extensive weathering.

Specimens: All of the sample mass and a polished thin section are on deposit at PRIC.
