Northwest Africa 5238 (NWA 5238)

Purchased: 2007

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L3)

History: The meteorite was purchased from a local meteorite dealer in Erfoud, Morocco.

Physical characteristics: Brownish rock without fusion crust.

Petrography: The meteorite shows a chondritic texture with well outlined, mostly rounded and partly packed chondrules (apparent mean diameter about 0.75 mm). The fine-grained matrix contains sulfides and FeNi metal partly altered to Fe-oxides and -hydroxides.
