Northwest Africa 5243 (NWA 5243) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2006 Classification: Ordinary chondrite (LL3) History: The meteorite was purchased from a local meteorite dealer in Erfoud, Morocco. Physical characteristics: Eleven light brownish fragments without fusion crust. Petrography: The meteorite shows a light brownish interior and displays a chondritic texture with sharply defined, mostly rounded and separated chondrules (apparent mean diameter about 0.85 mm) in a fine-grained matrix with minor sulfides and FeNi metal. The meteorite contains up to 7 mm sized black impact melt fragments. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
