Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS, and J. Boesenberg, BrownU) Well-defined unequilibrated chondrules (apparent diameter 1090±720 µm, N = 26) containing Cr-magnetite and devitrified glass are set in a fine-grained opaque matrix (~40 vol.%) containing Cr-magnetite, kamacite (altered to Fe oxides) and taenite. Minerals in CAI include diopside, anorthite, spinel and perovskite. Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa9.6±16.1, range Fa0.2-56.2, N = 15), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs1.0±0.2Wo2.6±2.2, range Fs0.8-1.3Wo0.9-5.4, N = 5), pigeonite (Fs1.3±3.2Wo9.4±2.3, range Fs1.3-3.2Wo11.0-7.8, N = 2), subcalcic augite (Fs0.7Wo33.0), augite (Fs1.2±0.6Wo39.9±0.5, range Fs0.8-1.7Wo40.2-39.6, N = 2), diopside (Fs0.4±0.1Wo50.1±0.8, range Fs0.3-0.6Wo49.2-50.8, N = 3), magnetite (Cr2O3 4.7±1.9 wt.%, N = 6). Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CK3). Specimens: 21.1 g including one polished thin section at YPMNH; remainder with Mr. M. Cimala. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
