Northwest Africa 5580 (NWA 5580) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2007 Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CK4, anomalous) Petrography: The meteorite consists of sharply defined chondrules, mineral fragments, and few small CAIs set in a fine-grained dark greenish matrix. Cr magnetitie abundant. Rare intergrown magnetite, pyrrhotite, and ilmenite. Geochemistry: (A. Greshake, MNB): Olivine composition, Fa25.2, is anomalously iron-poor for CK group.
