Northwest Africa 5916 (NWA 5916)

Purchased: 2009

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (LL6)

History: The meteorite was purchased from a local meteorite dealer in Erfoud, Morocco.

Physical characteristics: Light brownish rock almost completely covered with fusion crust.

Petrography: The meteorite is a LL6 breccia with some shock melt veins. The plagioclase grain size is about 70 µm.
