Fezzou Village, Morocco

Classification: Rumuruti chondrite (R4)

History: The finder and collector of both meteorites Northwest Africa 6235 and Northwest Africa 6236, originally called Fezzou (a) and Fezzou (b), respectively, is Mr. Mosudiqu Aziz, who is a Moroccan shepherd and living in Alnif, Morocco. Mr. Ichiro Katagi, who is a dealer of rocks and meteorites, purchased them from Mr. Mosudiqu Aziz at Alnif. The submitter, Sawada, bought them from Mr. Katagi at the Mineral Tokyo Show in Tokyo, Japan.

Geochemistry: Ca-rich pyroxene (Fs8.3-20.5Wo34.0-46.5); C (0.22 wt%). Carbon and sulfur isotopes analysis (D. Dettman, UAz): δ13C -15.11±0.11 per mil (vs. PDB), δ34S: 0.6±0.15 per mil (vs. CDT). Oxygen isotope analysis (K. Nagao, UTok; M. Kusakabe, UToy; I. Ahn and J. I. Lee, KOPRI): δ17O : 5.53 ± 0.08 per mil (vs. SMOW); δ18O : 4.70 ± 0.07 per mil (vs. SMOW).

Classification: Petrologic type is estimated around 4 on the basis of TL and Fa content.
