Northwest Africa 6384 (NWA 6384)

Purchased: 2010 Jun

Classification: Pallasite (Main group)

Petrography: (K. Metzler, IfP) Subrounded olivine grains with sizes up to 1.5 cm, embedded in ~50 vol% iron oxides / hydroxides, which also occur as crosscutting veins in olivine. No unaltered Fe-Ni metal has been found. Schreibersite grains up to 800 μm occur.

Geochemistry: Mineral compositions and geochemistry: Mean olivine composition: Fa13.9±0.3 (Fa13.3-14.3); n=8.

Classification: Pallasite (main group), based on texture, grain size of olivine and olivine composition.
