Northwest Africa 6432 (NWA 6432) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2009 Feb Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L5) History: Purchased by Blaine Reed in February 2009 from a Moroccan dealer at the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show. Petrography: (A. Irving and S. Kuehner, UWS) Sparse chondrules are set in a recrystallized matrix. Minerals are olivine, orthopyroxene, augite, sodic plagioclase, chromite, altered kamacite and troilite. Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa25.3-25.4), orthopyroxene (Fs20.3-20.4Wo2.1-2.2), augite (Fs7.1-7.2Wo44.8-44.4). Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L5). Specimens: Type specimen plus one polished thick section are at PSF; main mass with Reed. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
