Black Rock 008 40°57.877’N, 119°02.462’W Nevada, United States Find: 2006 Nov 04 Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L5) History: This stone was recovered by Robert Verish along the eroded margin of a dry lake. Physical characteristics: This 37.1 g fragment is half of a whole stone, with a dark-brown interior and a brown, relict fusion-crust on the exterior surface. Petrography: (D. Sheikh, FSU) Chondrules absent. Recrystallized matrix with plagioclase (10-30 μm). Geochemistry: Olivine, Fa23.67±0.9 (N=25); orthopyroxene, Fs19.24±0.9Wo1.77±0.3 (N=25). Classification: Ordinary Chondrite (L5) Specimens: 12.37 grams at UCLA; main mass with Verish. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
