FALL OF THE CILIMUS, INDONESIA, STONY METEORITE

Name: CILIMUS

Place of fall: In the village of Sampora, W. Java, Indonesia

6.87°S., 108.13°E.

Date of fall: May 7, 1979 at 0930 hrs.

Class and type: Stone. Olivine-hypersthene chondrite (L5).

Number of individual

specimens: 1

Total weight: 1.6 kg.

Circumstances of fall: After a fireball and detonations, a stone fell into a garden in the village of Sampora. The name CILIMUS is that of the nearest post office.
