Northwest Africa 7012 (NWA 7012) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: Sept 2011 Classification: HED achondrite (Eucrite, polymict) Petrography: Fresh polymict breccia consisting of some coarse basaltic eucrite clasts plus related crystal debris and sparse diogenitic orthopyroxene and fayalitic olivine. Orthopyroxene, fayalite, exsolved pigeonite, very calcic plagioclase, olivine, ilmenite and troilite. Geochemistry: Orthopyroxene (Fs37.6-37.9Wo2.0, Fe/Mn=35), fayalite (Fa87.0, Fe/Mn=42), olivine (Fa37.6-37.9, Fe/Mn=46-47). Pigeonite consists of host orthopyroxene (Fs56.7Wo4.1, Fe/Mn=29-33) with exsolution lamellae of clinopyroxene (Fs23.2-23.8Wo43.4-42.5, Fe/Mn=26-28). | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
