Northwest Africa 8235 (NWA 8235)

Classification: HED achondrite (Eucrite, monomict)

Petrography: The meteorite consists of fine- and coarse-grained basaltic clasts and less abundant dark melt clasts set into a fine-grained clastic groundmass. Mineral fragments are dominantly calcic plagioclase and pyroxene with very fine exsolution lamellae. Minor phases include SiO2 polymorphs, chromite, and pyrrhotite.

Geochemistry: low-Ca pyroxene: Fs28.6-48.8 Wo4.6-9.4, FeO/MnO=25-31; Ca-pyroxene: Fs31.3-41.2 Wo27-31, FeO/MnO=27-30; calcic plagioclase: An83.4-93.9
