Kerman 001 30°30.1’N, 58°24.2’E Kerman, Iran Found: 2013 Dec 8 Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H5) History: Mr. Reza Eslami Fetrat, a frequent traveler to the Lut desert, found a single large (17 kg) meteorite in the Kalout region on December 8, 2013. The meteorite was partly buried in sand. The meteorite was loaned to Hassan Mirnejad at UTehran for initial examination. Two pieces (21 and 20 g) were given to UTehran and CEREGE for classification and research. Physical characteristics: A single rusted and fractured stone Petrography: Chondrules in recyrstallized matrix. Most metal and sulfide grains are weathered. Veins filled with weathering products crisscross the meteorite. Geochemistry: Olivine Fa18.4±0.2 (n=4). Orthopyroxene Fs16.4±0.3Wo1.1±0.1 (n=4). Magnetic susceptibility log χ = 4.67 (χ in 10-9 m3/kg) Classification: H5 Specimens: 20 g in CEREGE, 21 g UTehran, main mass with finder | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
