Northwest Africa 8510 (NWA 8510) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2007 Classification: HED achondrite (Eucrite) Petrography: The achondrite consists of a coarse-grained and a fine-grained basaltic lithology both dominated by exsolved Ca-rich pyroxene, low-Ca pyroxene, and calcic plagioclase. Minor phases include SiO2 polymorphs, chromite and troilite. Geochemistry: low-Ca pyroxene: Fs58.4±0.3Wo4.4±0.4 (Fs57.4-59Wo3.7-5, n=26), FeO/MnO=29-33; Ca-pyroxene: Fs26.7±0.6Wo43±0.6 (Fs25.6-28.4Wo41.6-44.1, n=30), FeO/MnO=29-37; calcic plagioclase: An89.4±0.6 (An88.3-90.2, n=17) | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
