Classification: Rumuruti chondrite (R5)

History: Purchased in 2014 in Layoune

Physical characteristics: Six crusted stones. Cut surface reveals a dark interior with light chondrules.

Petrography: (J. Gattacceca, CEREGE) Chondrules in a recrystallized matrix (about 1:1). Chondrule mean size 580±180 μm. Olivine is the dominant silicate. Plagioclase in matrix is up to 50 μm but typically 20-30 μm. Opaques are mainly sulfides.

Geochemistry: Olivine Fa_39.6±0.0(N=3), NiO 0.22±0.06 wt.%, FeO/MnO=81±1. Ca-pyroxene Fs_14.0Wo_42.5(N=1). Plagioclase An_8.3Ab_87.7Or_4.0(N=1). Chromite Cr#=0.85 TiO₂=2.2 wt.%. Magnetic susceptibility log χ =3.39 (χ in 10^-9 m³/kg)
