Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CK5)

History: Purchased in 2014 in Layoune

Physical characteristics: Cut surface reveals a dark grey interior.

Petrography: (J. Gattacceca, CEREGE) Millimeter-sized chondrules in a recrystallized matrix. Olivine is the dominant silicate. Plagioclase in matrix is typically 20-40 μm. Opaques are mainly troilite and magnetite

Geochemistry: Olivine Fa_29.8±0.33(Fa_29.3-30.1, N=6), FeO/MnO=117±20, NiO 0.44±0.07 wt.%. Pyroxene Fs_22.5Wo_11.7(N=1). Magnetite contains 3.3±0.1 wt.% Cr₂O₃, 0.67 wt.% Al₂O₃, 0.23 wt.% NiO (N=3). Magnetic susceptibility log χ = 4.65 (χ in 10^-9 m³/kg).
