Northwest Africa 10014 (NWA 10014)

Purchased: Nov 2014

Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CM2)

History: Purchased by Joachim Lemm from a local meteorite dealer in Agadir, Morocco.

Physical characteristics: The small almost black individual is partly covered by fusion crust.

Petrography: The meteorite displays a black interior and is composed of about 0.1-0.3 mm chondrules, chondrule pseudomorphs, individual mineral fragments and rare CAIs, many surrounded by fine-grained accretionary rims set into an abundant fine-grained matrix. Main matrix phases are phyllosilicates, carbonates, and pyrrhotite. The meteorite is unshocked and shows little sign of terrestrial alteration.
