Northwest Africa 10069 (NWA 10069)

Purchased: 2014 Nov

Classification: HED achondrite (Eucrite, monomict)

History: Purchased by Mohammed and Ali Hmani

Petrography: (A. Irving and S. Kuehner, UWS) Breccia composed of shocked gabbroic eucrite clasts and related debris. Minerals are exsolved pigeonite (pale orange to red-brown in thin section), calcic plagioclase (polycrystalline), silica polymorph, ferrosilite, ferropigeonite, Ti-chromite, ferropseudobrookite, troilite, zircon and secondary barite.

Geochemistry: Orthopyroxene host (Fs63.4Wo2.8, FeO/MnO = 31), clinopyroxene lamella (Fs29.8Wo41.6, FeO/MnO = 33), clinopyroxene host (Fs28.5-30.7Wo42.2-40.4, FeO/MnO = 32-35, N = 2), orthopyroxene lamella (Fs62.8Wo3.1, FeO/MnO = 32), ferropigeonite (Fs68.7Wo24.0, FeO/MnO = 35).

Classification: Eucrite (monomict breccia, gabbroic).

Specimens: 22.3 g including one polished thin section at UWB. The remainder is held by Hmani.
