Northwest Africa 10174 (NWA 10174) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2015 Feb Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L5) History: Purchased by Darryl Pitt in February 2015 from a dealer in Mauritania. Petrography: (A. Irving and S. Kuehner, UWS) Sparse chondrules. Weathering of primary metal grains has caused staining of silicates. Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa25.4-25.6, N = 3), orthopyroxene (Fs20.9-21.1Wo1.4-1.7, N = 2), clinopyroxene (Fs7.6-12.4Wo45.6-41.6, N = 2). Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L5). Specimens: 24.2 g including one polished thin section at UWB. The remainder is held by DPitt. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
