Northwest Africa 10199 (NWA 10199)

(Northwest Africa)

Purchased: 2015 Feb

Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CV3)

History: Purchased by Darryl Pitt in February 2015 from a dealer in Mauritania.

Petrography: (A. Irving and S. Kuehner, UWS) Mostly granular and some BO chondrules (up to 2.8 mm, some with concentric dust rims) plus fine grained, irregularly-shaped CAI occur in an almost opaque, fine grained matrix.

Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa0.3-49.0, N = 3), orthopyroxene (Fs0.9-1.1Wo0.7-0.8, N = 3), clinopyroxene (Fs0.8-1.2Wo37.8-39.3, N = 2).

Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CV3).

Specimens: 20.4 g including one polished thin section at UWB; the remainder is held by DPitt.
