Northwest Africa 10260 (NWA 10260) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2015 Classification: Ordinary chondrite (LL4) History: Purchased by Steve Arnold from Morocco, 2015. Physical characteristics: Single stone with smooth dark fusion crust. Saw cuts show a brecciated interior, some domains with orange brown staining, while other domains are light colored. Petrography: (C. Agee, UNM) Microprobe examination of a polished mount shows some large distinct chondrules, plagioclase is very fine-grained. Kamacite, taenite, augite, chromite, and Cl-apatite observed. Geochemistry: (C. Agee and N. Muttik, UNM) Olivine Fa30.4±2.3, Fe/Mn=61±5, n=8; low-Ca pyroxene Fs24.6±1.0Wo2.1±1.2, Fe/Mn=36±2, n=5. Classification: Ordinary chondrite (LL4) Specimens: 23.7 g including a probe mount on deposit at UNM, Steve Arnold holds the main mass | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
