Find, doubtful fall: 2006 June 15

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H5)

History: At about 9:00 AM local time on June 15, 2006, a stone reportedly fell into a pond of Jingshan county, Hubei province. Several people near the pond may have witnessed the fall. After pumping out water from the pond, one piece of stone of 2.3 kg was recovered on June 17, 2006 by Mr. Xiang Mingjin.

Physical characteristics: A single stone with a complete fresh fusion crust.

Petrography: A few chondrules are visible. Major phases are olivine and low-Ca pyroxene. Accessory phases include troilite, albite, and FeNi metal.

Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa15-17.5), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs14.6-17Wo0-1.2).

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H5).

Specimens: 20 g at PMO.
