Northwest Africa 10387 (NWA 10387)

(Northwest Africa)

Purchased: 2015 May

Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CV3)

History: Purchased by Fabien Kuntz in May 2015 from a dealer in Rissani, Morocco, and subsequently acquired by Xavier Gonzalez.

Petrography: (A. Irving and S. Kuehner, UWS) Separated chondrules (apparent diameter 1.6±1.2 mm, some rimmed) plus fine-grained CAI are set in a deep reddish-brown matrix (~40 vol.%).

Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa1.5-46.8, N = 3), orthopyroxene (Fs1.3-15.0Wo3.7-2.7, N = 3), augite (Fs0.7-6.5Wo36.9-35.6, N = 2).

Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CV3). Low/moderate weathering.

Specimens: 14.22 g including one polished thin section at PSF; remainder with Mr. X. Gonzalez.
