Northwest Africa 10690 (NWA 10690) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2016 Mar Classification: Ordinary chondrite (LL7) History: Purchased by Fabien Kuntz in March 2016 from a dealer in Ouarzazate, Morocco. Petrography: (A. Irving and S. Kuehner, UWS) Very fresh specimen with poikiloblastic texture and no evidence of relict chondrule structures. Minerals are olivine, orthopyroxene, clinopyroxene, sodic plagioclase, potassium feldspar, taenite, chromite, troilite and rare chlorapatite. Some feldspar consists of perthitic intergrowths of potassic and sodic phases. Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa29.9-30.0, N = 3), orthopyroxene (Fs23.4-23.5Wo3.7-3.6, N = 3), clinopyroxene (Fs10.3-12.1Wo42.5-38.9, N = 2), plagioclase (An6.4-7.2Or3.2-3.5, N = 2), potassium feldspar (Or83.6-87.3An6.1-5.7, N = 2). Classification: Ordinary chondrite (LL7, K-feldspar-bearing). Specimens: 20.45 g including one polished thin section at PSF; remainder with Kuntz. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
