Northwest Africa 10732 (NWA 10732) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: Mar 2016 Classification: HED achondrite (Eucrite, polymict) History: The meteorite was bought in 2016 from a meteorite dealer in Erfoud, Morocco. Petrography: The meteorite is a polymict breccia composed of lithic and mineral clasts set into a more fine grained clastic matrix. Lithic fragments include basaltic and gabbroic eucrite lithologies and up to 1 cm sized impact melt clasts. Mineral fragments are dominantly exsolved pyroxenes and calcic plagioclase. Minor components include diogenitic orthopyroxene, chromite and SiO2 polymorphs. Geochemistry: pyroxene host to augite lamellae: Fs51.6±5.1Wo2.9±0.7 (Fs46.9-58.3Wo2.3-4.2, n=10, FeO/MnO=32-36); Ca-pyroxene: Fs39.4±7.5Wo29.4±8.1 (Fs30.6-48.8Wo21.0-39.8, n=13, FeO/MnO=31-35); diogenitic pyroxene: Fs24.4±0.9Wo2.7±0.6 (Fs23.3-25.3Wo2.1-3.3, n=10, FeO/MnO=27-32); calcic plagioclase: An93.1±2.7 (An88.8-95.7, n=15). | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
