Northwest Africa 10804 (NWA 10804) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2016 May Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CV3) History: Purchased in Temara, Morocco by Adam Aaronson in May 2016. Petrography: (A. Irving and S. Kuehner, UWS) Relatively large (apparent diameter 0.2-3 mm, mean 1.7 mm), round to irregularly shaped, granular chondrules (some with multiple rims), irregularly shaped fine grained CAI and some isolated olivine grains occur in a fine grained orange-brown matrix (~20 vol.%). One CAI consists of hibonite+gehlenite+spinel+tiny grains of osmium metal. Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa0.3-47.4; Fa 87.0, N = 4), orthopyroxene (Fs0.6Wo0.9), pigeonite (Fs0.7Wo14.1), subcalcic augite (Fs4.3Wo28.6), augite (Fs0.6Wo43.5). Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CV3). Specimens: 21.3 g including one polished thin section at UWB; remainder with Aaronson. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
