Northwest Africa 10978 (NWA 10978) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2005 Classification: Ordinary chondrite (LL4) History: Purchased by an anonymous collector from a dealer at the Munich Show in 2005 and subsequently acquired by the Hollis Collection. Petrography: (A. Irving and S. Kuehner, UWS) Well-formed, relatively large chondrules are set in a recrystallized matrix containing stained metal. Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa28.4-28.5, N = 3), orthopyroxene (Fs21.1-21.2Wo1.4-1.5, N = 3), clinopyroxene (Fs7.0-7.2Wo45.9-46.0, N = 2). Classification: Ordinary chondrite (LL4). Specimens: 39 g including one polished thin section at PSF; remainder in the Hollis Collection. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
