Northwest Africa 10364 (NWA 10364) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2015 May Classification: HED achondrite (Eucrite, unbrecciated) History: Purchased by Fabien Kuntz in May 2015 from a dealer in Erfoud, Morocco. Petrography: (A. Irving and S. Kuehner, UWS) Fresh unbrecciated specimen with intersertal texture composed of calcic plagioclase, exsolved pigeonite, silica polymorph, Ti-chromite, ilmenite, troilite and minor zircon. Although unbrecciated, the specimen has cross-cutting microfaults. Geochemistry: Orthopyroxene host (Fs56.6Wo1.7, FeO/MnO = 34, N = 1), augite exsolution lamella (Fs26.8Wo37.9, FeO/MnO = 30, N = 1), augite host (Fs23.4Wo43.4, FeO/MnO = 31, N = 1), orthopyroxene exsolution lamella (Fs56.6Wo1.7, FeO/MnO = 35, N = 1). Classification: Eucrite (unbrecciated). Specimens: 20.2 g including one polished thin section at PSF; main mass with Kuntz. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
