DISCOVERY OF THE DE KALB, MISSOURI, STONY METEORITE Name: DE KALB Place of find: De Kalb, Buchanan County, Missouri. 39° 35'30"N, 94° 55' 19"W. Date of find: Some months previous to May, 1969. Class and type: Stone. Olivine-bronzite chondrite. Number of individual specimens: 1 Total weight: 566 g Circumstances of find: The meteorite was found among loose rocks picked off of a field after plowing. Source: William F. Read (1971). A new olivine-bronzite chondrite from De Kalb, Missouri. Meteoritics 6, 105-108. Editor's note: The paper gives the latitude incorrectly as 30° 35' 30"N. | ||||||||||||||||
