Northwest Africa 11895 (NWA 11895) Sahara Find: 1998 Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H3-5) History: Sample was found 1998 by the Labenne group. The coordinates are unknown. Petrography: The sample is a breccia and contains fragments of different petrologic type, most fragments are recrystallized (type 5) and some are unequilibrated. Geochemistry: Olivine compositions are Fa14.2-21.0 (mean Fa17.6±2.5, n=9), pyroxene compositions are Fs8.2-20.4Wo0.8-2.6 (mean Fs15.7±3.4Wo1.4±0.5, n=11). The equilibrated clasts have olivine compositions of Fa19.2±0.2 (n=3) and pyroxene compositions of Fs16.9±0.3Wo1.3±0.2 (n=3). Classification: Brecciated H chondrite (H3-5) based on mineral compositions and chondrule size. Very weakly shocked (S2), weathering degree: W2 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
