Northwest Africa 11922 (NWA 11922)

Purchased: 2018

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L3-6)

History: The meteorite was purchased from a local meteorite dealer in Erfoud, Morocco.

Physical characteristics: Two dark-grayish individuals partly covered with fusion crust.

Petrography: The meteorite is a chondritic breccia consisting of angular to subrounded L3 and L6 clasts set into type 3 clastic matrix. Plagioclase grain size in L6 clasts is about 60 µm. Chondrules are mostly flattened and well packed and have a mean diameter of about 0.6 mm.

Geochemistry: type 3 lithology: olivine: Fa14.9±9.3 (Fa2.5-26.9, n=20); pyroxene: Fs12.5±7.4Wo0.5±0.1 (Fs4.5-21.7Wo0.3-0.8, n=17); type 6 lithology: olivine: 25.2±0.3, n=11; pyroxene: Fs20.0±0.3Wo1.9±0.2, n=12
