Northwest Africa 11964 (NWA 11964) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2017 Classification: HED achondrite (Howardite) History: Purchased by Aziz Habibi in Morocco, 2017. Physical characteristics: Saw cut reveals a fragmental breccia with dark and light clasts set in a gray groundmass. Petrography: (C. Agee, UNM) This meteorite consists of approximately 50% diogenite and 50% eucrite clasts. Geochemistry: (C. Agee, UNM) diogenite low-Ca pyroxene Fs25.3±3.0Wo2.3±0.6, Fe/Mn=30±1, n=10; eucrite low Ca pyroxene Fs42.3±8.4Wo5.8±3.2, Fe/Mn=31±2, n=9; eucrite high Ca pyroxene Fs18.7Wo42.4, Fe/Mn=27, n=1; plagioclase An89.0±6.7, n=7. Classification: Howardite Specimens: 20.0 g including a probe mount on deposit at UNM, Kyle Ke holds the main mass | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
