Loulan Yizhi 009 ~40°30’N, ~89°54’E Xinjiang, China Find: 2013 Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L6) History: (Ziyao Wang) Purchased by Ziyao Wang from an ornamental stone dealer in Hami/Xinjiang in 2013. The anonymous finder reported that this meteorite was discovered in the Lop Nur area, close to ruins of Loulan Yizhi in 2013. Physical characteristics: (Ziyao Wang) Dark gray-brown lustering stone of 41.3 g without fusion crust Petrography: (R. Bartoschewitz, Bart) Strong recrystallized matrix with poor recognizable chondrules. Metal and sulfide filled cracks and darkened the meteorite. Geochemistry: (R. Bartoschewitz, Bart, P. Appel and B. Mader, Kiel) Olivine Fa24.2±0.4 (n=16); pyroxene Fs20.1±0.4Wo1.8±0.5 (n=4); Ca pyroxene En74Fs19Wo7 (n=1); chromite CRAL86, FFM76 (n=1); apatite. Magnetic susceptibility log χ (× 10-9 m3/kg) = 4.55 Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L6, S4 shock darkened, W4) Specimens: 8.36 g on deposit at Münster, Ziyao Wang holds the main mass, and 6 g with Bart.
