Northwest Africa 12303 (NWA 12303) Morocco Purchased: 2017 Classification: Ordinary chondrite (LL3) History: (Ziyao Wang) Purchased by Ziyao Wang from Adnane Sami during the China (Hunan) Mineral & Gem Show in Chenzhou City in May 2017. Physical characteristics: (Ziyao Wang) Dark brown flat stone of 56.2 g without fusion crust Petrography: (R. Bartoschewitz, Bart) well defined chondrules (0.4-2.2 mm, av. 1 mm) of various types (PO, POP, RP, BO), chondrule fragments, and CAIs are set in dark-brown oxidized matrix. Geochemistry: (R. Bartoschewitz, Bart, P. Appel and B. Mader, Kiel) Olivine Fa23.4±7.4 (n=12); pyroxene Fs20.6±7.0Wo0.7±0.4 (n=10); An15Or<1 (n=1); chromite CRAL78, FFM93 (n=3). Kamacite Ni=5.5, Co=1.4 (n=3); taenite Ni=36.2, Co=0,4 (n=1) (all wt.-%). Magnetic susceptibility log χ (× 10-9 m3/kg) = 3.70 Classification: ordinary chondrite (LL3, S2) Specimens: 11.3 g on deposit at Kiel, Ziyao Wang holds the main mass, and 7.5 g with Bart.
