Northwest Africa 12306 (NWA 12306) Morocco Purchased: 2018 Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CO3) History: (Ziyao Wang) Purchased by Ziyao Wang from Fayssal Mezgouri during the China (Hubei) Mineral & Gem Show in Huangshi City in Sept 2018. Physical characteristics: (Ziyao Wang) Dark black stone of 36.4 g with about 30% fusion crust Petrography: (R. Bartoschewitz, Bart) Chondrules (average ~ 200 µm), chondrule fragments, and CAIs are embedded in a fine-grained brownish matrix (about 30 vol%). Geochemistry: (R. Bartoschewitz, Bart, P. Appel and B. Mader, Kiel) Olivine Fa12.8 (0.4-45.9; n=32); pyroxene Fs3.4±2.1Wo2.0±1.2 (n=6); Ca-pyroxene En86Fs5Wo9. Kamacite Ni=4.8, Co=1.1 (n=4); taenite Ni=41.3, Co=0,4 (n=4) (all wt-%). Magnetic susceptibility log χ (× 10-9 m3/kg) = 4.48 Classification: carbonaceous chondrite (CO3, S3) Specimens: 6.7 g at Kiel and 0.6 g at Münster on deposit, Ziyao Wang holds the main mass, and 8 g with Bart.
