Northwest Africa 12319 (NWA 12319)

Find: 2018

Classification: Ungrouped achondrite

History: The meteorite was discovered in 2018 ans sold by a meteorite dealer in Agadir

Physical characteristics: Thirteen green-gray fragnents and small splinters of totaling 35.3 g, some ae partly covered by olive-green-brown fusion crust.

Petrography: (R. Bartoschewitz, Bart) brecciated dunite with pyroxene (<0.2 mm), plagioclase (<0,1 mm), chromite (<1.5 mm), and troilite.

Geochemistry: (R. Bartoschewitz, Bart, P. Appel and B. Mader, Kiel) Olivine Fa12.9±2.8, (n=48), Fe/Mn=37; pyroxene Fs22.0±5.0Wo2.8±1.4 (n=4, Fe/Mn=27); augite En46Fs10Wo44 (n=2); feldspar An71Or<1 (n=4); chromite CRAL88, FFM69 (n=3); troilite. Magnetic susceptibility (R. Bartoschewitz, Bart) log χ (× 10-9 m3/kg) = 3.01. O-isotopes (A. Pack, UGött): δ17O = 1.681‰, δ18O = 3.613‰, Δ17O(‰) = -0.198.

Classification: Achondrite, ungrouped. Fe/Mn and O-isotopes show relation to QUE 93148, NWA 12217, and NWA 12562. NWA 12319 is probably paired with NWA 12217 and NWA 12562

Specimens: 1.05 g at Münster and 5.07 at Kiel on deposit, main mass with Alan Mazur and 5 g with Bart.
