Northwest Africa 12322 (NWA 12322)

Niger

Purchased: 2018 Aug

Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CV3)

History: Found in Niger and purchased in Morocco by Adam Aaronson in August 2018.

Petrography: (A. Irving and S. Kuehner, UWS) Well-formed granular and BO chondrules (some composite; apparent diameter 1250 ± 690 µm) and fine grained CAI (some up to 4.5 mm across) are set in a fine grained matrix (~30 vol.%, orange-brown in thin section).

Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa0.2-45.3, N = 3), orthopyroxene (Fs0.7-0.9Wo1.1, N = 2), clinopyroxene (Fs2.5Wo36.0; Fs21.4Wo44.1; N = 2).

Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CV3).

Specimens: 42 g including one polished thin section at UWB; remainder with Aaronson.
