Northwest Africa 12413 (NWA 12413) Morocco Purchased: 2002 Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L5) History: Purchased with numerous other unclassified NWA samples from Marvin Kilgore in 2002. Physical characteristics: The meteorite is mostly covered by fusion crust with a small piece (~10 cm) chipped away. Petrography: The thin section shows chondrules of different textures but few have sharp boundaries. Geochemistry: Average olivine is Fa24.7.4±0.6 (n= 6); Pyroxene Fs23.7±2.6Wo1.4 (n=5) Classification: Ordinary chondrite L5 with a weathering grade of W3 and a shock stage of S1. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
