Lop Nur 011 40°19’17.11"N, 90°11’17.31"E Xinjiang, China Find: Nov 2018 Classification: HED achondrite (Diogenite) History: (Ziyao Wang) Purchased by Ziyao Wang from the finder Tailu Zhao (Shanshan County, Xinjiang) in Shanshan/Xinjiang in 2018. This meteorite was discovered in the Lop Nur area in Nov. 2018. Physical characteristics: (Ziyao Wang) Small light yellow stone of 16.2 g with very thin, pale fusion crust Petrography: (R. Bartoschewitz, Bart) Monomict breccia predominantly composed of blocky, up to 3 mm sized orthoproxene grains and more fine-grained cataclastic regions. Minor phases include clinopyroxene, chromite, and troilite. Neither plagioclase, olivine, nor metallic iron have been found in the section studied. Geochemistry: (R. Bartoschewitz, Bart, P. Appel and B. Mader, Kiel) Ca-poor pyroxene Fs31.8±0.4Wo4.0±0.5 (n=18); Ca pyroxene En63Fs30Wo7 (n=1); chromite CRAL82, FFM93 (n=3); troilite. Magnetic susceptibility log χ (× 10-9 m3/kg) = 2.79 Classification: Diogenite Specimens: 3.3 g on deposit at Kiel, Ziyao Wang holds the main mass, and 3.7 g with Bart. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
