Northwest Africa 12502 (NWA 12502) Morocco Find: 2018 Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H3) History: (Ziyao Wang) Purchased by Ziyao Wang from Simo Mezgouri in Agadir, Morocco, Nov 2018. Physical characteristics: (Ziyao Wang) 13 brown partly crusted stones totaling 23 kg, individual weights range from 5225 to 42 g. Petrography: (R. Bartoschewitz, Bart) well defined chondrules (0.1-1.2 mm, av. 0.6 mm) of various types and mineral fragments in a mostly opaque black matrix with metal and sulfide (often eutectic patches), and chromite. Geochemistry: (R. Bartoschewitz, Bart, P. Appel and B. Mader, Kiel) Olivine Fa18.7±2.8 (16-31; n=45); pyroxene Fs16.2±4.7 (1.7-18.3)Wo2.0±2.4 (n=49); Ca pyroxene En60-16Fs6-25Wo11-15 (n=6); CRAL83, FFM83. Kamacite Ni=5.8, Co=0.6 (n=1). Magnetic susceptibility (R. Bartoschewitz, Bart) log χ (× 10-9 m3/kg) = 5.37-5.49 Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H3 with light/dark structure, S4, W0/1) Specimens: 21.1 g on deposit at Kiel, Ziyao Wang holds the main mass, and 139 g with Bart. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
