Northwest Africa 12508 (NWA 12508) Algeria Purchased: 2018 Classification: HED achondrite (Eucrite) History: (Ziyao Wang) Purchased by Ziyao Wang from Hamza Lharbi in Guelmim in Oct. 2018. Physical characteristics: (Ziyao Wang) one yellow-white stone of 20.3 g with very few fusion crust. Petrography: (R. Bartoschewitz, Bart) unbrecciated ophitic texture composed of predominantly exsolved pigeonite and feldspar. Geochemistry: (R. Bartoschewitz, Bart, P. Appel and B. Mader, Kiel) Pigeonite En36Fs57Wo7 (n=15); augite En30Fs31Wo39 (n=2); feldspar An89Or<1 (n=11); chromite CRAL82, FFM98 (n=1); ilmenite, SiO2. Kamacite Ni<0.1, Co=0.5 (n=2) (all wt-%); troilite. Magnetic susceptibility (R. Bartoschewitz, Bart) log χ (× 10-9 m3/kg) = 2.79 Classification: Achondrite (eucrite, basaltic) Specimens: 4.1 g on deposit at Kiel, Ziyao Wang holds the main mass, and 3 g with Bart. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
