Northwest Africa 12509 (NWA 12509) Morocco Purchased: 2018 Classification: HED achondrite (Eucrite) History: (Ziyao Wang) Purchased by Ziyao Wang from Fayssal Mezgouri in Agadir, Morocco, Nov 2018. Physical characteristics: (Ziyao Wang) one irregularly shaped stone of 114.5 g with recognizable brecciated structure on the surface, without fusion crust. Petrography: (R. Bartoschewitz, Bart) recrystallized ophitic texture composed of pyroxene and feldspar cut by melt veins. Geochemistry: (R. Bartoschewitz, Bart, P. Appel and B. Mader, Kiel) Pyroxene Fs60.3±0.8Wo2.9±0.7 (n=11), Fe/Mn=31; pigeonite En36Fs59Wo4 (n=2); augite En31Fs37Wo32 (n=2); feldspar An89Or<1 (n=8); chromite CRAL84, FFM98 (n=1); ilmenite. Kamacite Ni=5.1, Co=0.6 (n=2) (all wt-%); troilite. Magnetic susceptibility (R. Bartoschewitz, Bart) log χ (× 10-9 m3/kg) = 3.39 Classification: Achondrite (eucrite, basaltic) Specimens: 20.1 g on deposit at Kiel, Ziyao Wang holds the main mass, and 16 g with Bart. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
